The GT2 series belts are specially designed for linear movement. Use a profile with rounded teeth, which ensures that the tooth belt perfectly and precisely in the throat of the pulley, so that if you reverse the direction of the pulley, there is no place for the band to move in the groove.
For best performance, that is at least six teeth in contact with the pulley at any given time. This minimizes the possibility of the ring sliding and helps to perform in the reduction even more. In practice, this means that you made a minimum of a 12 tooth pulley, and I usually try to get at least 16 teeth.
